***FLU VACCINATIONS 2016
The injected flu vaccine is offered free of charge on the NHS to people who are at risk. This is to ensure they are protected against catching flu and developing serious complications.
You are eligible to receive a free flu jab if you:
- are 65 years of age or over
- are pregnant
- have certain medical conditions*
- are very overweight
- are living in a long-stay residential care home or other long-stay care facility
- receive a carer's allowance, or you are the main carer for an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill
- are a front-line health and social care worker. It is your employer's responsibility to arrange vaccination for you
*Conditions such as Asthma, Diabetes, COPD, Chronic Heart Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease, Chronic Liver Disease etc

The Accessible Information Standard
The Accessible Information Standard is a new law to make sure that people with a disability, impairment or sensory loss are given the right information they can easily read or understand. At Mocketts Wood Surgery we want to make sure that we give you information that is clear to you. If you have a disability, impairment or sensory loss you will receive a letter asking you to let us know if you have any communication preferrences.

ALCOHOL AWARENESS GROUPS AT MOCKETTS WOOD
For the past 6 months Turning Point have been holding Alcohol Awareness Group meetings once per week at the Surgery and it is reported to be doing very well. Discussion took place regarding the balance between GPs’ and patients’ responsibility for safe drinking limits.
TRAVEL VACCINATIONS CLINICS
When going abroad on holiday to exotic places it is essential that the right vaccinations are given to protect you. So when booking an appointment for this clinci please can you let the receptionist know when and where you are going so that an approrpiate appointment can be given to you to see the nurse who will be able to advise you regarding protection.
