CORONAVIRUS - COVID-19 UPDATES

COVID-19 VACCINATION UPDATE

From week commencing 15th March all covid vaccines will now be delivered at the Thanet (SAGA) Hub on the Haine Road.

The surgery team will be working alongside other practices at this central Hub to vaccinate the remaining groups and to deliver the second doses for all patients previously vaccinated at The St Peters Community Halls.

The Thanet hub has lots of parking and will be easy for patients to book and attend and also more efficient for us to deliver the vaccines.

Stage Coach will be offering a free hopper bus service from the Westwood cross bus stop behind Debenhams every 15 minutes to the vaccination hub.

We will be using an electronic booking system so if you receive a text from your GP Practice with the Hub address, please respond and book your vaccination.

We ask you to follow the instructions in the text to book or cancel appointments and not to contact the surgery to confirm details.

For those patients without a mobile phone the surgery will contact you to book second doses but it would help us greatly if as many people as possible use the electronic booking system to speed up the booking process.

COVID-19 VACCINATION INFORMATION

We would like to reassure our patients that you will be contacted by the Surgery as soon as you become eligible for the covid vaccine.

You may have received a letter from NHS offering a covid vaccine appointment which you will need to book.  This is entirely your choice, you can either book via the details given to you, or wait until the Surgery contacts you.

PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE SURGERY ASKING FOR INFORMATION ABOUT THE VACCINE, as  this is likely to overload the phone system and will cause delayed access for patients who require medical attention.

Telephone Triage System - How will it work?

When calling to make an appointment with a doctor you will be put onto a telephone triage list for the doctor to call you back (unless it is possible to put you straight through). You won’t need to ring at 8:00 on the day to be sure of getting an appointment that day, as the system will operate all day long.

You can ask the doctor to call back around a particular time if you will not be able to take a call immediately. The doctor will call you back as soon as possible (or as close to the time requested). The doctor will then have a brief discussion with you about your reason for needing an appointment and will book an appointment for you that day if appropriate or for another day if necessary.

If you require a chaperone to be present during your consultation, please do ask, as this will be arranged.

Telephones

1. If you are waiting for an appointment from the hospital following a referral please call the relevant department/ hospital for information, rather than the surgery. The outpatient's appointment line at K&C Hospital is 01227 868686.

2. Please remember that not all results will be sent back to the surgery unless the test was requested by your doctor, therefore if you were referred for the test by the consultant please call the appropriate secretary regarding results before contacting the surgery.

One-Click Away

Convenience doesn’t stop there and you can now access several services online. Ordering a repeat prescription, sending us your comments and certain appointments are also just a click away. If you’re not yet registered with us you can download the necessary forms.

Patient Information

Every patient registered at Mocketts Wood Surgery now has a named allocated GP.  Please contact the surgery to find out who this is or you may request a specific GP.

Health and Happiness

Our Team are dedicated to your continued good health and approach your care with professionalism, discretion and friendliness. You can count on a warm welcome from everyone involved here at the practice.

The Accessible Information Standard

The Accessible Information Standard is a new law to make sure that people with a disability, impairment or sensory loss are given the right information they can easily read or understand. At Mocketts Wood Surgery we want to make sure that we give you information that is clear to you. If you have a disability, impairment or sensory loss you will receive a letter asking you to let us know if you have any communication preferences.

Friends and Family Test

We are keen to receive feedback from our patients.  Please see the tab Friends and Family Test adjacent - alternatively please visit www.iwantgreatcare.org and tell us what you think about our care.  All comments are appreciated.

We will share the results on our website and with our patient group and agree on actions with them to address any issues that are raised.

Travel Vaccination Clinics

When going abroad on holiday to exotic places the right vaccinations must be given to protect you. When booking an appointment for this clinic please can you let the receptionist know when and where you are going so that an appropriate appointment can be made for you to see the nurse, who will be able to advise you regarding protection. Where possible please try to book your travel vaccinations 6 - 8 weeks before travelling.

Suggestions

We encourage suggestions as to how we could improve our services.  Please do share your suggestions in writing, which will be passed on to Management.
